A Secondary school teacher with Thescol College, Magodo, in Ikeja, Lagos state, Peter Jacob, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for defiling a 9-year-old special needs pupil.
Handing the judgment, Justice Abiola Soladoye of the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court held that the prosecution had efficiently proved the charge of defilement against the teacher and that the evidence of the respective witnesses was cogent, compelling, and believable.
The convicted teacher was said to have committed the offense sometime in 2019 at the school where he worked as a classroom teacher. The pupil, who suffered from dyslexia, was in the primary school section of the school which also houses the secondary school where Jacob worked.
The judge also ordered that the convict should have his name registered in the sexual offense register as maintained by the Lagos State government.
