Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of an Ikeja Special Offences Court, on Monday, September 19, sentenced a 31-year-old teacher, Idowu Daniel, to 7 years imprisonment for sexually assaulting his 16-year-old student.
Idowu was charged with child defilement and sexual assault of a minor, but was, however, convicted of the sexual assault charge, as the victim failed to show up in court to testify on the defilement charges.
He was said to have voluntarily confessed to fondling the breast of the student twice, and attempted to have canal knowledge of her, but was unsuccessful because she was a virgin.
Delivering judgment, Taiwo said;
“The defendant is hereby convicted on the charge of sexual assault of a child.
“You are a teacher and you were touching the breast of your student. You would have gone for life if the victim had come to court to testify.”
