The management of the National Youth Service Corps has reacted to reports that some corps members serving in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital were attacked by armed robbers on Wednesday, July 6.
The scheme, in a statement issued in Abuja today July 7 by the Akwa Ibom State Coordinato, Chinyere Ekwe said no female corps member was raped during the attack that occurred at about 1: am on the said day.
Ekwe explained that she visited the corps member in the company of the State Police Commissioner, Olatoye Durosinmi, for an on-the-spot assessment and it was gathered that indeed, the robbers had attacked the lodge and carted away with valuables, but none of the 21 occupants was raped.
The statement further clarified that no bodily harm was meted on the corps members.
