An Abdu Gusau Polytechnic lecturer has been killed by bandits following his abduction on the Kaduna-Abuja highway.
The lecturer, Sanusi Halilu Kaura, who also doubles as the Dean of Student Affairs at the polytechnic, was killed by his abductors after collecting five million naira ransom for his release.
He was said to be on his way to Abuja for the NYSC Mobilisation of the polytechnic students when he was abducted. Five weeks after his kidnap, a N5m ransom was paid to the bandits on Tuesday, June 21, in a bush near a village along Kaduna-Zaria road to secure his release.
It was gathered that the bandits confirmed his death less than 24 hours after payment of the ransom, an indication that he had been killed while negotiations for his release were ongoing.
