In the early hours of Monday, March 21, a letter purportedly written by ”the unknown gunmen” was trending on social media and this has caused panic amongst school children in the eastern part of the country, especially Imo state.
In the letter addressed to residents of Imo state, the gunmen were said to have threatened to take actions against schools that recite the national anthem and the pledge.
The residents were also warned against operating on Mondays, as the day has been declared for a sit-at-home, and those caught outside their homes would be severely dealt with.
This caused a lot of panic amongst school children who had already resumed school for the new week.
Teachers were then said to have instructed students to vacate schools and return home for their safety.
