A senior secondary III (SS3) student of Aka Community Secondary School, Aka Offot, Uyo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom state has been arrested by men of the Nigerian police force over the death of a fellow student of the school, 18-yr-old James Effiong Archibong.
According to reports, the SS3 student identified as Samuel Effiong Aduk (18), stabbed the victim, an SS2 student to death during a fight on Thursday, March 10. The incident led to the indefinite closure of the school to avoid an eruption of violence.
A student of the school linked the incident to the cult rivalry between SS3 students and their SS2 counterparts. He explained that the suspect nicknamed ”Benzema” had left the school to continue his SS3 in another school because of the series of fracas he used to have with other students, and always visited the school.
However, on the day of the sad incident, the suspect was said to have engaged the victim in a bitter quarrel at the school premises. He reportedly brought out a kitchen knife and slit his throat, leaving him dead on the spot.
