A female inmate of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Lagos State Command, Okike Chinyere, has been celebrated for her academic excellence as she emerged as the best graduating student from the Department of Peace and Conflict Resolution, National Open University (NOUN).
According to a statement by the correctional service, miss Chinyere bagged a second-class upper degree in the course, while a male inmate, Alegbe Afolabi, was awarded an MSc in Peace and Conflict Resolution.
One of the graduating inmates, Nweke Chibueze, during his vote of thanks, thanked the service Controller General, Haliru Nababa, and the Vice-Chancellor of NOUN for the opportunity, and appealed for clemency for the graduating students so that they can make use of the degrees awarded.
