A lecturer with the University of Calabar, Professor Felix Akpan, was on Sunday, March 12, found dead with multiple stab wounds at his residence located at 181 Duke Town close, behind Mega Hilton Hotel, Calabar the Cross River state capital.
Prior to his death, the Political Science professor allegedly had a guest who visited him at his house on Saturday, March 11, and the visitor was said to have left very early on Sunday morning, at about 5:00 am to Akampka before the lecturer’s bloodied body was found.
A lady who stays in the compound said that she heard a loud scream the same day the yet-to-be-identified visitor who is alleged to be a friend of the lecturer, left his apartment and alerted people in the neighborhood about the noise.
The source also added that the guest went back to the deceased house after he initially left before he was apprehended and taken to the lecturer’s apartment where the lifeless body was found in his pool of blood with multiple stab injuries.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Irene Ugbo said an arrest have been made and further investigation into the matter was ongoing.
