The Department of Accountancy, Faculty of Management Sciences, Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu Alike, Ebonyi State has been accredited by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).
The confirmation of the accreditation was contained in a letter to the University, dated 31st December 2021, signed by the Head, Students’ Affairs Directorate, Funmi Otitoju, for the Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of the Institute.

The accreditation which is for the duration of four (4) is with effect from 2019/2020 to 2022/2023 academic sessions. The accreditation certificate will be presented to the University in May 2021.
With this, the Accounting programme of the University has the full accreditation of both the National Universities Commission (NUC) and that of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).
Recall that the Institute had visited the University from 12th to 16th April 2021 for the purpose of accrediting its accounting programme, which also helps the graduates of the department to be exempted from writing certain level of the Institute’s professional examination.
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria has the mandate of determining the standard of knowledge and skills to be attained by persons seeking to become members of the Accounting profession in Nigeria.
