Umaru Musa Yar’adua University (UMYU) admission form into the new postgraduate programmes of the institution for the 2021/2022 academic session
The management of the Umaru Musa Yar’adua University (UMYU), Postgraduate school has commenced the sale of application forms for admission into its newly accredited postgraduate programmes for the 2021/2022 academic session.

UMYU New Postgraduate Programmes Duration & Admission Requirements
A. POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN POLITICAL SCIENCE (PGDPS)
The following shall qualify for the Postgraduate Diploma in Political Science admission:
- Candidates must satisfy the matriculation requirements of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University;
- A minimum of B.Sc. Degree in Political Science or Public Administration with Second Class lower;
- HND and/or professional qualifications cognate to Political Science from a recognized institution with not less than Lower Credit.
B. POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION (PGDPA)
Candidates seeking into the PGDPA programme must have obtained:
- The matriculation requirements of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University;
- Candidates must satisfy the matriculation requirements of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University;
- Degree from a recognized University/Institution in Public Administration or any of the Social Sciences with at least one-year post qualification experience;
- Any other degree from a recognized University with at least three years post qualification experience;
- Professional qualification from a recognized professional body acceptable to the Departmental Board with two years working experience relevant to the subject matter of the Postgraduate diploma;
- Any other Diploma from a recognized University/Institution or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Departmental Board with five years working experience relevant subject matter of the Postgraduate diploma;
- Minimum of ten years sustained working experience in recognized Institution or work place with string recommendation on the capacity of the candidate to undertake the programme from the Head of the Institution where the candidate work and which is acceptable by the Departmental Board;
- Candidates will be selected on the basis of their performance at an entrance examination or interview to be decided by the Departmental Board.
C. MASTER’S DEGREE
- The following shall qualify for the Master’s Degree Programmes: –
- Graduates of recognized Universities who have obtained the approved Bachelors Degree in relevant field; with at least Second-Class Honors or its equivalent.
- Candidates who hold qualifications other than the ones listed above, which are acceptable to the Senate of the University.
- The following shall qualify for Professional Masters’ degree admission:
- Graduates of recognized Universities who have obtained the approved Bachelors Degree in relevant field; with at least Second-Class Honors or its equivalent.
- Candidates with any Bachelor’s degree in Third Class division who have at least five years relevant working experience.
- Candidates who possess Higher National Diploma (HND) with at least a Credit pass at Postgraduate Diploma of a recognized Institution;
- Candidates who hold qualifications other than the ones listed above, which are acceptable to the Senate of the University.
Matriculation Requirement:
In addition to A and B above, a candidate must satisfy the University’s matriculation requirements of the programme i.e five relevant Credit Passes at the O’level to include English and Mathematics.
DURATION:
- Postgraduate Diploma in Political Science (PGDPS) – 2 to 4 Semesters
- Postgraduate Diploma in Public Administration (PGDPA) – 2 to 4 Semesters
- Masters in Public Administration (MPA) – 2 to 4 Semesters
- M.Sc. Political Science – 4 to 6 Semesters
- M.Sc. Public Administration – 4 to 6 Semesters
- M.Sc. Accounting – 4 to 6 Semesters
- M.Sc. Biochemistry
How to Apply for UMYU New Postgraduate Programmes
Interested candidates for any of the Postgraduate Programmes can apply online via the University website (www.umyu.edu.ng) from 25th October, 2021 to 12th November, 2021.
The procedures of payment of application fees (N10,500) are available at Postgraduate Application Portal
All candidates are required to request their previous Institutions to forward either soft copy or hard copy of their academic transcripts accompanied by Form B (downloadable on the University website), to the Secretary Postgraduate School, Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Katsina.
Soft copy of academic transcripts should be sent via emailto [email protected] All academic transcripts should reach the Secretary of the Postgraduate School not later than the closing date of the application.
Duly completed application forms and supporting documents must be forwarded to the SECRETARY, POSTGRADUATE SCHOOL, UMARU MUSA YAR’ADUA UNIVERSITY, KATSINA. P.M.B. 2218, KATSINA not later than 20th November, 2021.
SELECTION PROCESS: All candidates shall be subjected to a selection process. There may be screening/entrance examination on a date which would be announced on the University Website (www.umyu.edu.ng). Candidates are therefore advised to check.
