The Nigerian police have confirmed the arrest of five students of Dowen college, including the school principal and housemasters over their involvement in the death of Sylvester Oronomi, a 12-year old student of the school who was allegedly beaten to death by bullies.
The three house masters arrested were on duty on the day the incident happened and have been taken into police custody.
According to the police, they have obtained a court order to detain the students for 21 days at the Juvenile centre.
Prior to their arrest, two of the parents of the accused students had denied the involvement of their children in the death of Sylvester Oromoni, with one saying his son was a day student and couldn’t have been present at the time of the incident.
