Latest: BUK Direct Students to Vacate Hostels, Announces Hostel Allocation Procedure for 2020/2021 Session
This is to inform all students of Bayero University, Kano (BUK) who are interested in getting space in the hostel for the next session (2020/2021) to collect hostel allocation from the Hall Administrators and fill. The distribution of the forms will commence on Thursday, 1st July 2021 by 10.00 am in the various hostels.
Interested students should therefore meet Hall Administrators for collection
Note:
1. Student must present their Identity cards for the collection of the form
2. If you know that you don’t need accommodation, please do not collect the form. If anybody is found selling or trading bed space in whatever way, he/she will face appropriate sanctions and disciplinary action.
3. For fresh Level 1 and Direct Entry Level 2 students, their forms will be distributed at a later date.
Also, students that the University has planned to carry out some repair work in the Students Hostel during the session break.
Students are therefore instructed to leave the hostel immediately after the exams or at most one week after the last examination.
Students are also required to go along with all their belongings while leaving the school. Any property seen left behind will be considered unwanted and will be handled as such.

This is to inform all the new and returning students of Bayero University, Kano (BUK) that the management has opened the hostel portal for application for the 2019/2020 academic session.

- Visit https://mybuk.buk.edu.ng/ug/
- Click on login
- Enter your username and password
- Click on ‘Hostel’
- Select the campus i.e. New Site or Old Site
- Select the hostel’s name e.g Saadu Zungur
- Select the floor e.g. First, Second, Third or Fourth Floor
- Select the bed space
- Click on ‘Submit’
A text message containing your confirmation link will be sent to your number. You are required to click on the link to verify and make your payment before 24 hours.

The Senate of Bayero University, Kano (BUK) at its 378th meeting held on Wednesday, 27th November 2019 approved an upward review of the accommodation and other administrative charges for both the University’s postgraduate and undergraduate students.
Under the new arrangement, according to a statement signed by the Director of Examinations, Admissions, and Records (DEAR), Hajiya Amina Umar Abdullahi, hostel accommodation for international postgraduate students has now been increased by 33% from the initial N60,000 to N80,000 now.
However, hostel fees for postgraduate Nigerian students with mattress and bed have been increased by 100.8 percent from N12,150 to N25,150 now. Also, undergraduates will now pay N20,090, which is 66 percent higher than the previous N12,090. However, those collecting only bed space without a mattress will pay N12,090 as against the former N7,090, which is an increase of 81 percent.
Equally, there is an increase in the administrative charges for some existing services for both postgraduate and undergraduate students. All the reviews, according to the statement, are with effect from the 2019/2020 academic session.
Accordingly, the acceptance fee for all the undergraduate programmes is now increased from five thousand to ten thousand naira only; while the re-issuance of the statement of result now attracts one naira, said the statement.
Moreover, new charges have been introduced. These include Certificate of English Proficiency, Re-issuance of admission letters and correction of names on admission letter each attracts a one-thousand-naira charge while any student who would want to have a reprint of course registration forms (CRF) and the reprint of evidence of payment of registration fees must pay five hundred naira as an administrative charge.
Hajiya Amina Abdullahi also revealed that students from the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences would henceforth be paying an additional three thousand naira for their induction and laboratory manuals with effect from the 2019/2020 academic session.
In the same vein, the University Senate has approved the payment of twenty thousand naira only by M.Sc. Architecture as charges for mandatory Arcon Jury Assessment and the payment should be made at the department.
Other charges approved by the Senate included payment of ten thousand naira for a field trip (GEO4201) for all L e v e l 5 0 0 s t u d e n t s of BSc . Geography and B.Sc. (Ed) Geography in the School of Continuing Education (SCE) as well as the payment of five thousand naira only per session by all students of B.Sc. Geography and B.Sc. (Ed) Geography in the School with effect from 2018/2019 academic session.
The Senate had also requested the School of Continuing Education to liaise with the Department of Geography to see the possibility of including the students of SCE in field trips with the view of reducing cost.
Meanwhile, the Senate has banned the collection of Membership fees from students by various student associations in all faculties. In the same vein, the existing student association fees have now been increased to three hundred naira per student from the previous two hundred naira and are to be collected centrally with effect from 2019/2020 academic session.
