The Kano Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has secured the conviction of one Umar Hassan, an Assistant Headmaster at Goron Dutse Primary School, in Dala Local Government Area of Kano State for presenting false information in securing the bail of a criminal suspect.
According to the EFCC, Hassan stood as a surety in a case against one Abdulkadir Mohammed Sani and mislead operatives of the EFCC into granting bail to the suspect in a criminal case that was being investigated by the agency. He was said to have presented himself as the brother to the suspect who is now at large and was unable to produce him for court proceedings.
Hassan was sentenced to six months imprisonment by Justice Zuwaira Yusuf of the Kano State High Court on August 20, 2021, after he pleaded guilty to a one-count charge of false information.
