The management of University of Calabar has announced the ban on the despicable of Water Ritual practice among students in the Institution describing it as unwholesome and unacademic.
The Registrar of the University, Mr. Gabriel Egbe in a release said that the disturbing practice where water is poured sporadically on both Matriculating and Graduating students as an initiation rite was unacceptable it depicts human rights abuse.
A committee has been put in place by the management to investigate the circumstances which lead to the ugly act and assured that those found culpable will be sanctioned appropriately.
The Acting Chief Security officer and other relevant officers in the University have been tasked to ensure the ugly task never occur again.
