The Sokoto state police command has arrested some students of the Sultan Abdurrahman College of Health Technology, Gwadabawa, Sokoto state, over the murder of one of their colleagues whom they accused of theft.
The deceased simply identified as Lukeman, a 200-level Dental student of the institution was said to have been tortured by the culprits after he was accused of stealing a missing phone. They were said to have tied him up to a tree, poured cold water on him, and proceeded to beat him in a bid to force him to confess to the crime.
He was rushed to the Usmanu Danfodiyo University hospital where he was confirmed dead after he fainted during torture. The hospital management, upon discovering Lukeman was a student, informed the school authority and the police of the incident leading to the arrest of the students.
Prior to his death, Lukeman was reportedly living in a rented apartment outside the school premises with the suspects who carried out the heinous act.
