Following the conversion of the College of Education Ilesa, Osun state, to a conventional university, the National Universities Commission (NUC), has presented a Letter of Recognition to the institution for its official take-off.
The letter which was presented by the NUC Executive Secretary, Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, to the Osun state governor, Adegboyega Oyetola at the NUC Secretariate in Abuja, marks the completion of the formal documentary process for the establishment of the University.
In his remarks, the governor thanked the commission for the approval and reiterated the government’s commitment to ensure that the establishment of the university will not in any way put unnecessary financial burden on the State.
He further added that the University will focus on Agriculture and Agri-business to address food insecurity; mining technology to build on the abundant gold deposit in Ilesa land, and Medical Sciences to enhance the human resource need in the health sector.
