In preparation for the resumption of academic activities on the 3rd of January, 2023, the student representatives Council has learnt with dismay that despite the hardship faced by students staying off campus, some of the landlords have scheduled an increase in the costs of rentals without remorse.
Meanwhile, the ABU-SRC through its welfare committee were already in a round table discussion/negotiation with the Samuru and kongo landlords association to be considerate, looking at the fact that students did not enjoy their rentage for the period of 10 months owing to the ASUU strike and revise academic calendar. An increment in rents is totally unfair and shows no emotional and economic considerations for the students.
On this notes henceforth, the ABU-SRC is urging students in this category not to pay or renew their house rents pending when the issue of rents increment has been successfully negotiated. After which,a communique will be released to breif students on the grounds reached.
Please note: students comfort must take precedence above all.
Seasons greetings and we will wish you journey mercy back to campus
Thank you
