The Taraba State University chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has declared a total and indefinite strike action in the university over unpaid salaries and earned alloweances by the government.
The TASU chairman of ASUU, Dr. Samuel Shitaa said the strike became pertinent following the state government’s rebuttal of claims that it is not owing workers salaries.
The union decried the government’s failure to pay its earned academic allowances, promotion arrears, fractional payment of salaries to staff, and unsettled staff pension and gratuity scheme.
Shitaa added that other reasons for the industrial action include the non-implementation of agreements and perimeter fencing of the institution.
