The management of the Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi, during the 98th meeting of the Governing Council of the Polytechnic approved the dismissal of two of its lecturers who were found guilty of sexually harassing their students.
One of the lecturers identified as Musa Baba Abubakar of the Department of General Studies was accused of raping, sexually harassing, and intimidating female students in the institution. He was alleged to have defiled a 17-year old female student after threatening her with a knife and was caught red-handed by the Rector of the school.
The second lecturer, Adebusoye Michael Sunday of the Nutrition and Dietetics Department, was also accused of a similar crime by the institution.
The institution’s Rector, Arc. Yahaya Gumau, said that the dismissed lecturers would be handed over to the Police and the Department of State Service who assisted the institution on the matter, for prosecution.
