Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the Preliminary Vocational and Technical Studies Programme of Department of Vocational and Technical Education, Faculty of Education, Benue State University, Makurdi for the 2021/2022 Academic Session.
1. Programme areas include:
a. Business Education
b. Computer Education
c. Home Economics Education
d. Industrial Technology Education
2. Entry qualifications:
To qualify for admission, candidates must meet general and specific requirements to individual pre-VTS area of specialization.
a. General entry requirements
Candidates are required to possess a minimum of four (4) credits in SSCE, GCE, NTC, NBC, C&G I or II, Federal craft Training Certificate, TCII or any equivalent qualification as may be approved by the University.
A credit in English Language is compulsory.
b. Specific Requirements:
i. Business Education
In addition to general University entry requirements, Applicants must have credits in English language, Mathematics and any other 3 subjects from Social Sciences and Business Studies related courses and Economics of the SCE/GCE/WASSCE/RSA business studies (Stage ii intermediate).
ii. Computer Education:
Four credits level passes including: Mathematics, English language, physics, Chemistry and Biology in SSCE/NTC/GCE O` level Examination.
iii. Home economics:
Four credits in English language, mathematics, Biology and any two of the following subjects: Home Management (clothing and Textiles) Food nutrition, Chemistry, Agricultural science and Economics WASSCE/SSCE/GCE/O`level/NTC.
iv. Technology Education:
Candidates must possess a minimum of four credits in WASSCE/SSCE/GCE/O`level or NTC NBC or Federal craft certificate. This includes credits in English, Mathematics, physics, Chemistry, and any one of social Sciences or Technical drawing and technological subject area such as Woodwork, Metalwork, Electronic/Electrical installation.

4. Method of application:
Applications are available only on the online platform. Interested candidates are to visit the Benue State University website www.bsum.edu.ng (under applications on the Benue State University portal section) click on Preliminary Vocational and Technical Studies and complete the pre-registration information and submit. Once submitted, an application number will be generated, print a copy of the pre-registration form. Application applicants will then proceed to the designated bank (Fidelity) with the printed copy of the pre-registration and pay a non-refundable application fee of five thousand (N5, 000) naira only using the generated application number. After payment, applicants would be expected to re-visit the Benue State University Portal under application and click on Pre-VTS to complete the application form and submit. Applicants should print a copy of the completed form, attach all relevant photocopies of credentials (payment receipt, WASSCE, NTC, NECO, Results, Local Government Certificate of Origin, Birth Certificate, 3 passport photographs) then submit to the Pre-VTS.
