Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State, conducts inaugural orientation programmes for pioneer students of the postgraduate school.
The Dean of the School of Postgraduate studies of Elizade University, Prof. Joseph Ajiboye has reiterated the stand of the University on the credible process of obtaining a postgraduate certificate at University.
Prof. Ajiboye who made the remarks at the inaugural Orientation programme conducted for the pioneer set of Postgraduate students of the University said though the University is just commencing its Postgraduate programmes, the quality of knowledge and certificate obtained by Its students will not be inferior to that of already established Universities.
Prof Ajiboye said Elizade University is not a substandard University and will not offer substandard knowledge, emphasizing the place of additional knowledge in postgraduate studies and not just mere certificates.
According to him, “the postgraduate students should be prepared to study. Elizade University is not a cash-and-carry University, where students offer money to get a certificate. The certificate must be earned and laboured for”
In his reactions, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olukayode Amund congratulated the students, resounding the fact that it is historic to have them as the pioneer students of Postgraduate School.
According to him, any University without postgraduate programmes will remain at the lowest ebb of educational development, because with such programmes, the University can extend the frontiers of knowledge and the academic pedigree of the University.
He further stated that the rating of universities all over the world is based on the research output of such institutions, which can only come via their postgraduate studies.
He, therefore, challenged the students to come out with what he called gold research that will put Elizade University on the map of the world.
According to the Secretary of the Postgraduate School, Miss Temitope Gabriel, over 20 students, one of which is the present Commissioner for information and orientation in Ondo state, Mr Donald Ojogo, participated in the orientation exercise.
Also in attendance were all the principal officers, deans of faculties, as well as members and staff of the School of Postgraduate studies.
