No fewer than four students of Kuramo Senior College in Lagos state have been confirmed dead after they allegedly drowned in the Elegushi bar beach on Tuesday, August 16.
It was gathered that the incident happened shortly after the students numbering about eight, visited their school to collect their recently released West African Examination Council (WAEC) results.
The eight students alongside one of the friends decided to stop by the beach but unfortunately, two males and two females drowned. Three others were said to have fled the scene while two others aged 14 and 16 waited until the police came. They were able to provide the names of the victims.
The spokesperson of the Lagos state police command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the incident said the police has contacted the families of some of the victims. He added the bodies of the drowned students are yet to be recovered.
