Our attention has been drawn to a faceless scammer impersonating the Acting Vice-Chancellor of Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Prof.Olusola Babatunde Kehinde on social media as requesting bidders to submit applications for the award of contracts by the University.
This impersonator created a fictitious Facebook account and linkedin for FUNAAB Acting Vice-Chancellor, using his name “Olusola Babatunde’, and a passport size picture of photograph taken with his academic gown while delivering the University’s 70th Inaugural Lecture.
His ‘bait’, posted mostly to his targets on Facebook Messenger is usually “That reminds me,Can you handle a procurement on behalf of our great institution?”
We urge members of the public to disregard this scammer and his/her antics as neither the University nor the Acting Vice-Chancellor is awarding any contract.
Should there be need for such, there are extant rules and procedures guiding the award of contracts as stipulated by prescribed authorities, and not through the back door of social media, which is the figment of mischievous imagination and tom-foolery of the scammer.
We want to assure stakeholders and the Public in general that we have reported this heinous act to relevant security agency and they are doing the needful.
Thank you and God bless.
