While the national leadership of ASUU has condemned the federal government for the payment of half of the salaries for the month of October to lecturers, the Gombe State University chapter of ASUU has vowed not to release students’ results if their withheld salaries are not paid in full.
The union, in a statement signed by its branch chairman, Suleiman Jauro, also threatened to stop the supervision of undergraduates and postgraduate projects.
The statement noted that the branch leadership had convened a meeting with the university management over the release of their withheld salaries. However, the university has been adamant, hence its decision to withhold students’ results and discontinue project supervision for final-year and postgraduate students until salaries arrears have been cleared.
