A 300-level female student of Bayero University, Kano has been abducted by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers. The student identified as Sakina Bello was said to have been abducted while traveling between Janbulo and the Rijiyar Zaki area of the Kano metropolis on Tuesday, October 5.
Her kidnappers were said to have contacted her family shortly after the abduction on Wednesday morning, October 5, demanding N100million ransom.
A spokesman for Kano Police Command, DSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, who confirmed the abduction said the police received a report of a missing person around 3 pm on Tuesday and started investigating the matter immediately. He added that efforts to trace her whereabouts were ongoing.
Meanwhile, the spokesman of the BUK Lamara Azare said the university has not been in session since July and will resume on November 1, adding that the school hasn’t received any incident of abduction of any student.
