The Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) has made significant changes to the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) schedule. In an official statement by Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the Head of Public Affairs and Protocol of JAMB, the board has announced the new dates for the rescheduled 2023 UTME mock examination and the main examination. These changes were made to accommodate other major and critical national assignments.
Rescheduled UTME Mock Exam:
The 2023 UTME mock examination, initially conducted on Thursday, 30th March 2023, experienced technical hitches in some centres, which prevented some candidates from participating. To ensure that these candidates have an equal opportunity to take the examination, JAMB has rescheduled the mock examination for Tuesday, 18th April 2023.
The purpose of the mock examination is to test JAMB’s preparedness and that of its partners for the UTME and to provide prospective candidates with hands-on experience in a computer-based test (CBT) environment.
Main UTME Examination Rescheduled:
Originally scheduled for Saturday, 29th April 2023, JAMB has brought forward the 2023 UTME to now hold from Tuesday, 25th April to Tuesday, 2nd May 2023. The adjustment in the main UTME date aims to accommodate other major and critical national assignments and ensure that no citizen is denied the opportunity to exercise their civic responsibilities.
Constraints and Considerations:
JAMB acknowledges that it does not have the liberty to push its examination forward due to other public examinations scheduled for early May 2023. Another factor influencing the decision is the need to accommodate institutions with stable academic calendars, allowing them to resume as planned.
Conclusion:
JAMB is committed to partnering with relevant government agencies to ensure that its candidates receive the best possible examination experience. The board appreciates the understanding of all stakeholders as it fulfills its critical mandate. Candidates who successfully took the mock examination on 30th March 2023 can now access their results. With the rescheduled dates for the UTME mock examination and main examination, JAMB has taken a significant step towards ensuring a fair and smooth examination process for all candidates.
