Professor Abdullahi Ashafa, Vice-Chancellor of Kaduna State University (KASU), announced on Friday, July 8, that the university will reopen on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, to resume academic activities.
Ashafa stated that the decision is to allow its final year students to write their exams and graduate, and he urged members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to be patient for the sake of students.
He stated that the state government has decided to provide foreign scholarships to students with outstanding Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA), and that after graduation, they will be sent abroad for master’s degrees at two African universities with which the Kaduna State Scholarship and Loans Board has already signed a Memorandum of Understanding.
The vice-chancellor also revealed that admissions to foreign schools would be closed in September, and KASU students had not written their second-semester exams due to the Academic Staff Union of Universities’ prolonged strike (ASUU).
As a result, following a critical meeting, the school administration decided to reopen on July 13, with the second-semester examination scheduled to begin on July 25.
