Latest: Kogi State Poly Withdraws 168 Students for Poor Performance, Expels 3 Others
The Academic Board of Kogi State Polytechnic (KSP), Lokoja, has considered the report of the Central Examination Misconduct Committee and approved the exoneration of three students accused of examination misconduct.
This was part of the far-reaching decisions at the 8th Emergency Board meeting held on Thursday, 14th July, 2022 at the Hall ‘A’ of the main campus.
The three students exonerated are Balogun Afeez Tolani (2019/ND/BUS/603), John Timothy (2019/HND/BUS/603) both of the Department of Business Administration and Johnson Lydia Odunayo (2018/ND/PAD/848) of the Department of Public Administration.
Consequently, the Board directed that the suspended results of the three exonerated students be processed immediately and forwarded for express approval.
Meanwhile, the Academic Board has also approved the expulsion of one Yakubu Gowon Zuleihat (2021/ND/PAD/346) of the Department of Public Adminstration over a case of theft.
The duo of Monday Alfa (2019/ND/EE/126) and Omodi Ubile (2019/ND/MEC/063) both of School of Engineering, were also expelled for impersonation during examinations.
In another development, the Board also approved the withdrawal of 168 students from the Polytechnic over poor academic performance in the First Semester of 2021/2022 academic session.
This was approved at the Academic Board’s meeting held on Thursday 28th July, 2022 at the same venue.

Earlier: Poor Performance: 196 Students Withdrawn from Kogi State Poly
One hundred and ninety-six students of Kogi State Poly have been withdrawn due to poor academic performance. See details below.
The Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Dr. Salisu Ogbo Usman, has advised students of the institution to avoid distractions and remain committed to their academic pursuit as they prepare for the 2021/2022 first semester examinations scheduled to commence on Monday 16th May, 2022.
Dr. Usman gave the advice on Thursday 12th May, 2022, during the emergency meeting of the Academic Board of the institution. He said the Polytechnic management was committed to making teaching and learning environment conducive for both staff and students.
He added that students’ good academic performance is a direct result of dedication and hardwork achieved under a conducive learning atmosphere which the Institution has put in place.
He therefore urged students to be diligent in their studies and graduate as planned.
He decried the high turnover of student withdrawal from the institution due mainly to poor academic performance.
The most recent instance, he recalled, was the withdrawal of 196 students by the Academic Board at her regular meeting held on Friday, 25th March, 2022.
