Following the authorisation of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to begin test broadcast on 99.7FM, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta has officially entered the comity of Nigerian campus radio institutions.
The test transmission will begin full operation on the same frequency modulation as the “voice of development” immediately after it is completed.
The Acting Rector, Dr. Adeoye Odedeji, reacted to the news by saying that the achievement was in line with the State Government’s objective of restoring the Polytechnic to its previous state.
He went on to say that the campus radio would not only serve as a useful medium for current broadcast journalism, but it would also improve communication across MAPOLY’s ecosystem through educational and developmental programmes broadcast on the radio and online at www.mapolyradio.com.
The radio station, Odedeji assured, will take off when the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) visits the Polytechnic in August for re-accreditation of programmes and resource inspection of 17 new programmes.
