Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) disclaimer notice as regards publications on fake social media handles operated in the name of the Vice-Chancellor.
The nefarious activities of a scamming syndicate and impostors on Facebook, LinkedIn, and other social media platforms have been brought to the attention of the Management of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. These individuals have set out to defraud unsuspecting members of the public by promising admission placements, job opportunities, award of contracts, and other benefits to teeming seekers for a fee, while using the name of the Vice-Chancellor of the University.
In light of this heinous occurrence, members of the public should be aware that a respected University like ours never conducts business on social media sites.
In fact, the Management considers it unlawful, strange, and improper for anyone or a group of people to align with or conduct business with faceless and unnamed individuals who are not officers or recognised staff of the University.
As a result, the University distances itself fully from these miscreants who want to drag its image into discredit through their acts.
As a result, we want to reassure the public that efforts are being made to identify and bring the criminal(s) to justice.
The University’s formal communication channels remain:
