A 32-year-old man, Falomo Tolulope, who shot at students of the College of Education Ilesa during a protest in the school has been arrested by the Osun State Police Command.
On October 27, 2022, some aggrieved students of the school had trooped out to protest against the decision of the state government to convert the institution from a College of Education to a conventional university, when the suspect opened fire on them.
Falomo was said to have shot at the students with a pump-action gun over an argument that ensued between him and the protesters and he afterward, fled the scene. Three of the victims sustained different degrees of injuries on their arms and legs.
The spokesperson of the command, SP Yemisi Opalola, who confirmed the arrest said the suspect was arrested on November 7, 2022, in his hideout at Odo Oro Area, Ilesa, and the pump-action gun was recovered from him with one used cartridge.
