The family of a student of the Police Secondary School, Igbo Ora, Oyo state has petitioned the Nigerian police force to produce their child who has been missing since his expulsion from the school

Mr. Deji Ashiru-Balogun, the father of the yet-to-named student alleged that the school management expelled his son and four other students last Saturday, for violating the school’s rules without informing the parents of the students.

School comes under fire as student expelled without parent's notice goes missing

Some sources within the school had alleged that the school management expelled the students after they were accused of taking illicit drugs on the school premises. However, others said the students were involved in a phone deal with a police officer within the school, an act that violates the school rules.

According to a staff of the school who pleaded anonymity, one of the expelled students had bought a phone from the said officer but was yet to pay in full. The officer who grew impatient and couldn’t wait any longer, reportedly contracted three other students to retrieve the phone from the student.

The contracted students secretly picked up the phone and returned it to the officer. When the student who had initially paid in part for the phone was searching for the phone, his friends told him they have returned the phone to the officer. This led to a fight that drew the attention of the school authority.

During questioning, it is alleged that the students who were contracted to retrieve the phone threw their colleague under the bus and lied that they found drugs on him. This revelation was said to have prompted the school management to expel the students without proper investigation.

Mr. Balogun who stated that the school must produce his son said he only got wind of the development when he received a call from a reporter who wanted to get his reaction to the said incident.
