Professor Bashir Garba of the Department of Applied Chemistry has been appointed as the vice-chancellor of the Sokoto State University, by the state governor, Aminu Tambuwal.
The appointment was announced in a statement issued by the special adviser to the governor on media and publicity, Muhammad Bello. According to the statement, the appointment followed the recommendation of the University Joint Council and the Senate Selection Board.
The statement further explained that Garba was recommended after performing above two other candidates; Nasiru Ibrahim and Belewu Adewale, both professors.
The governor also approved the appointment of Kuluwa Nuhu as the new registrar to replace Amina Garba who served twice in the same capacity.
