Nigerian students schooling in Sudan have cried out for help as the Khartoum part of the country is ravaged by war. Some of the students who are seeking evacuation accused the Nigerian embassy of neglecting them in such a perilous time and leaving them to their fate.
There is currently a war in Khartoum, the capital of Sudan, between rival factions of the country’s military government which has trapped and killed several civilians.
A student, Umar Faruk, while speaking to a news agency alleged that unlike their counterparts from Niger Republic, Cameroon, and Kenya who were regularly updated on the situation of the war by their respective Embassies in Sudan, there was nothing as such coming from the Nigerian Embassy.
He said though all Nigerian students were safe, but the rumors of the war have frightened their parents and relations, and regular updates from the embassy would put their minds to rest. He however ruled out the possibility of all students being evacuated as the Khartoum airport is already closed for operation.
