UNIPORT Part-Time Admission Invitation
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), College of Continuing Education (CCE), Part-Time Degree Programmes for the 2021/2022 academic session. Applicants who posses A/Level GCE or Diploma from recognized institutions may be admitted through the Direct Entry mode.
UNIPORT Part-Time Degree Programmes
The following programmes will be on offer during the session:
1. FACULTY OF HUMANITIES
B.A. Degree Programmes in History & Diplomatic Studies, English Studies, Philosophy, Religious & Cultural Studies, and Linguistics & Communication Studies.
2. FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES
B.Sc. Degree Programmes in Economics, Public Administration, and Sociology (Community Development & Social Welfare) .
3.FACULTY OF MANAGEMENT SCIENCES
B.Sc. Degree Programmes in Accounting, Finance and Banking, Management, Marketing and Hospitality Management & Tourism.
4. FACULTY OF SCIENCE
B.Sc. Degree Programme in Computer Science.
UNIPORT Part-Time Degree Admission Requirements
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR THE DEGREE PROGRAMMES
Candidates must have WAEC/SSCE, GCE O’ Level or their equivalent with credit passes in five (5) relevant subjects, including English and Mathematics. However, certain subjects are considered unacceptable for application.
ADMISSION REQUIRMENTS FOR THE DIRECT ENTRY INTO THE PART TIME DEGREE PROGRAMMS
For Direct Entry admission, candidates must have at least two A/Level passes in HSC, GCE or JUPEB, NCE/Diploma with (Upper credit) in relevant subjects from any recognized institutions. Moreover, they must have five credit passes in WAEC/SSCE, NECO, GCE “O” Level or their equivalent.
Specific Admission Requirements
1. Faculty of Humanities:
- Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Diplomatic Studies
- Five (5) credit passes: English Language, History or Government, plus any other three subjects from a specified list.
- Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Studies
- Five (5) credit passes: English Language, Literature in English, plus any other three subjects from a specified list.
- Bachelor of Arts Degree in Linguistics
- Five (5) credit passes: English Language and any other four subjects from a specified list.
- Bachelor of Arts Degree in Philosophy
- Five (5) credit passes: English Language and any other four subjects from a specified list. A pass in Mathematics, a Science subject or Literature in English is required.
- Bachelor of Arts Degree in Religious and Cultural Studies
- Five (5) credit passes: English Language and any other four subjects from a specified list.
2. Faculty of Social Sciences:
- Five (5) credit passes, including English Language, two Social Science subjects and credit in any other two Arts subjects.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Administration
- Five (5) credit passes: English Language, Government or History, Economics, and any other two subjects from a specified list. A pass in Mathematics is required if not included in the five credit passes.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics
- Five (5) credit passes: English Language, Mathematics, Economics, Government/History/ Geography and any other subject from a specified list.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology (Community Development and Social Welfare)
- Five (5) credit passes: English Language and any other four subjects from a specified list. A pass in Mathematics is required if not included in the five credit passes.
3. Faculty of Management Sciences
- Five (5) credit passes: English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and any other two subjects from a specified list.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Management
- Five (5) credit passes: English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any other two from a specified list.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing
- Five (5) credit passes: English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any other two from a specified list.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting
- Five (5) credit passes: English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any other two from a specified list.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance and Banking
- Five (5) credit passes: English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any other two from a specified list.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Hospitality Management and Tourism
- Five (5) credit passes: English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and any other two from a specified list.
4. Faculty of Science
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science
- Five (5) credit passes: English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
NOTE: ONLY ‘O’ LEVEL IN WAEC (SSCE/GCE), NABTEB AND NECO Certificates are acceptable for registration. TC II is not acceptable.
How to Apply for UNIPORT Part-Time Degree Admission
Application to the various Programmes is done online. Interested candidates should click this link and follow the application instructions. After completion of the online application, a non-refundable fee of N10,000.00, excluding Bank charges, must be paid at the U & C Micro Finance Bank.
After payment, candidates are required to return to the online application portal to input their teller number, print out their payment slip, and report to the Examinations and Records Unit, CCE, Nkpolu-Oroworukwo, Mile 3 Diobu, Port Harcourt with photocopies of their credentials for further documentation.
All candidates must ensure that they have the requisite qualifications for the intended courses. Moreover, they are required to complete the Jamb registration and application form online with the sum of N3,500.00.
Please note: The names stated by candidates in their Application Forms must match the names on their credentials. Any inconsistency in names may lead to disqualification. Also, candidates with O/Level Examination Results from 2014 and earlier must present their Original Certificates, not Statement of Results or Result Slips.
